Katie Kaplan, Illustrator
Katie Kaplan is a visual artist born and raised in Pittsburgh. In her current multi-disciplinary practice, she has a focus on exploring printmaking at the intersection of sculpture, fiber arts, photography and video, while also creating printed materials and design work for DIY events in Pittsburgh and beyond.
At Artist Image Resource (AIR) in Pittsburgh, Katie completed a printmaking residency while also working as a teaching artist with notable Pittsburgh organizations, including Dreams of Hope: Queer Youth Arts, The Andy Warhol Museum, and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Katie worked at the Justseeds Artists Cooperative office, and has been involved in member projects.
In early 2016, she moved to Philadelphia to complete the Post-Graduate Apprentice Training Program at the Fabric Workshop and Museum, where she now works as an educator. In Philadelphia, she received the 2016 Cindi Royce Ettinger Scholarship at Second State Press. Kaplan received a BFA in Sculpture from Pratt Institute in 2011. You can see her work here and here.
