christina acuna castillo, organizer

Christina Acuna Castillo is a Peruvian-American woman from New York. She moved to Pittsburgh four years ago and began working towards creating space and education about Latinx indigenous human rights activists in classrooms. As a woman whose first language was an indigenous language, Christina believes in the preservation and protection of one's roots, all while connecting youth back with their culture.

Christina studied Latin American & Caribbean studies and nonfiction writing at the University of Pittsburgh, but left school early to join the campaign to bring Martin Esquivel-Hernandez home. Despite no longer being in school, she likes to alternatively be informed by her cultures, by history, and by a sense of community.

Christina is currently fighting for immigrant rights to be included in the discussion of justice.
